As of October 2026, Tevola’s published pricing starts at $350 per linear foot installed for thermofoil kitchens and $500 per linear foot installed for painted kitchens. Both include a quartz countertop, handles and a sink. A 20 linear foot thermofoil kitchen works out to about $7,000 before electrical, plumbing, demolition and construction work, which are not included. Your final number comes after a free measurement.
Most kitchen quotes are hard to compare because every shop counts things differently. This guide explains the linear foot, shows how to measure your own kitchen, walks through three worked examples, and covers what pushes the price up or down. If you are still early in planning, our page on custom kitchen cabinets in Toronto covers the range of what we build.
What a linear foot means in a kitchen quote
A linear foot is one foot of cabinet run, measured along the wall. It does not account for depth or height. A 10 foot wall of cabinets is 10 linear feet, whether the doors are plain slab or shaker.
Pricing per linear foot gives you one number to work with. Multiply your total run by the rate and you have a starting benchmark before the excluded trades.
How to measure your kitchen in linear feet
You only need a tape measure and a notepad. Do this before you call anyone, so you can sanity check any quote you receive.
- Measure each wall that will have cabinets. Run the tape along the wall at counter height, from one end to the other.
- Subtract openings that will stay open. A doorway, a window that runs to the floor, or a gap for a freestanding fridge is not cabinet run, unless you plan to fit cabinetry around the fridge.
- Add the walls together. A galley kitchen has two runs. An L-shape has two. A U-shape has three.
- Count an island separately. Measure the island’s cabinet side and add it to your total.
- Round to the nearest half foot. This is only for your own planning. Exact measurements are taken on site.
Corners need a little care. Where two runs meet, measure to the corner once so you do not count the same stretch twice. Tevola confirms exactly how your layout is counted during the free measurement.

Tevola’s published per-foot rates
These are Tevola’s current published rates as of October 2026. They are a starting benchmark, not a final price, because every homeowner project is quoted after a free measurement.
| Option | Price |
|---|---|
| Thermofoil kitchen, installed | $350 per linear foot |
| Painted kitchen, installed | $500 per linear foot |
| Birch plywood cabinet boxes (upgrade) | Add $50 per linear foot |
| Included in the rate | Quartz countertop, handles, sink |
| Not included | Electrical, plumbing, demolition, construction work |
Both finishes come in many colours. If you are choosing between them, read our comparison of thermofoil vs painted cabinets.
Three worked examples
These are examples only, built from the published rates above. They are not quotes. Each assumes the total run, including any island, is counted in linear feet, and that no other upgrades are added.
| Example kitchen | Run | Thermofoil | Painted | Birch plywood boxes add |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small condo galley | 12 LFT | $4,200 | $6,000 | $600 |
| Mid-size L-shape | 22 LFT | $7,700 | $11,000 | $1,100 |
| Larger kitchen with island run | 34 LFT | $11,900 | $17,000 | $1,700 |
Small condo galley, 12 linear feet
Two short runs facing each other. In thermofoil that is 12 x $350, or $4,200. In painted it is 12 x $500, or $6,000. Choosing birch plywood boxes adds 12 x $50, or $600.
Mid-size L-shape, 22 linear feet
Two walls meeting at a corner. Thermofoil comes to $7,700 and painted to $11,000. Birch plywood boxes add $1,100.
Larger kitchen with an island run, 34 linear feet
Three wall runs plus an island. Thermofoil comes to $11,900 and painted to $17,000. Birch plywood boxes add $1,700.
Remember that each figure sits before electrical, plumbing, demolition and construction work. Those are separate trades and need their own budget.
What moves the price up or down
Finish
Finish is the biggest published lever. Painted is $150 more per linear foot than thermofoil, so on a 22 foot kitchen the choice alone is $3,300.
Box material
The cabinet boxes are the frame behind the doors. Birch plywood is an upgrade at $50 per linear foot. Whether it is worth it depends on how long you plan to stay and how much moisture the room sees.
Layout and total run
More linear feet means a higher total. A simpler layout with fewer walls can bring the run down. An island adds run, so it adds cost.
The trades that sit outside the rate
Moving a sink, adding outlets, taking out an old kitchen or opening a wall is not in the per-foot price. Budget for these separately. If your project involves bigger changes, our kitchen renovation in Toronto page explains how cabinets fit into a full remodel.
Why local, built-to-order manufacturing matters
Tevola designs and builds cabinets to order at its own facility in Scarborough. That has two practical effects.
Fit. Cabinets are made to your measurements, so you are not forcing a standard size into an odd wall. Condos and older Toronto homes often have walls that are not square.
Lead time. Custom kitchen cabinets typically take 4 to 8 weeks from order confirmation, depending on the project. Plan your demolition and trades around that window. Our process page shows the steps from measurement to installation, and the kitchen renovation timeline guide shows where cabinets sit in the bigger schedule.
One customer, Murugaths K., wrote in a Google review: “From the initial design stage through to installation, everything was handled professionally and efficiently… The kitchen was completed on time and to a very high standard.”
