A note on permits. The City of Toronto lists the installation of cabinetry and millwork as work that does not need a building permit on its own. Adding or removing walls, or installing or modifying plumbing or heating, does need one. See the City’s guide on when you need a building permit. For electrical work, the Electrical Safety Authority says it must be done by a Licensed Electrical Contractor and nearly all of it must be reported to ESA. See the ESA homeowner guide. Permits are your responsibility, so confirm with your contractor.

Planning a renovation in a Toronto condo or a house
A renovation in a condo and one in a house start the same way: with a measurement. After that, the details differ.
Condo. Many buildings set their own rules for renovation work, so ask your property manager before you set an install date. Rooms are often compact, with fixed bulkheads, columns and short walls, so exact measurements matter. Our condo kitchen cabinets guide goes through what to check before you order.
House. Older Toronto houses often have walls that are out of square and floors that slope. We build to the measurements we take on site, so your cabinets follow the room. A house can give you more freedom to change the layout, but moving a sink or removing a wall is work for your plumber and contractor, and it may need a permit.
In both cases, finish demolition and rough-in work before install day. Cabinets go in smoothly when the room is clear and ready. Our process shows each step in order.
Budgeting with per-foot rates
Start with the rate. As of October 2026, thermofoil kitchens are $350 per linear foot installed and painted kitchens are $500 per linear foot installed. Both include a quartz countertop, handles and a sink. Birch plywood cabinet boxes add $50 per linear foot. A linear foot measures the length of your cabinet run, so a larger kitchen costs more.
Then add what is not in our price: electrical, plumbing, demolition and construction. Get those quotes from your own trades so you see the full budget before you order.
Your final number comes after the free measurement, because every room is different. Our kitchen cabinet cost guide shows how the pieces add up. Contractors get a same-day quote on WhatsApp.
Published rates as of October 2026. Homes are quoted after a free measurement. Quartz, handles and sink included. Electrical, plumbing, demolition and construction not included.

Common questions
How much does a kitchen renovation cost with Tevola?
Our part is priced per linear foot. As of October 2026, thermofoil kitchens are $350 and painted kitchens are $500 per linear foot installed, with quartz countertop, handles and sink included. Birch plywood boxes add $50. Electrical, plumbing, demolition and construction are not included, so add quotes from your own trades for the full renovation budget.
Do you handle electrical and plumbing?
No. We build and install cabinets and the quartz countertop. Electrical, plumbing, demolition and construction are done by your own trades and are not in our rates. We can share the layout sketch so your electrician and plumber know where outlets, lighting and water lines need to go.
How long does a kitchen renovation take?
Our cabinets typically take 4 to 8 weeks from order confirmation, depending on the project. Your demolition, electrical and plumbing work happens around that window, so the total time depends on your trades. Book them early so the room is ready when your install day arrives.
Do I need a permit to replace my kitchen cabinets?
The City of Toronto says installing cabinetry and millwork does not need a building permit on its own. Adding or removing walls, or modifying plumbing or heating, does. Electrical work must be done by a Licensed Electrical Contractor and reported to ESA. Confirm your project with your contractor and the City.
Can you help me plan the layout?
Yes. After your free measurement, we sketch the layout and price it at our published rates. Bring photos, appliance sizes and a list of what annoys you in your current kitchen. We adjust the sketch with you until the plan works for your space, then confirm your order.
Can my contractor work with Tevola?
Yes. Contractors can send drawings or measurements on WhatsApp at (416) 814-6035 and get a same-day quote. Your contractor stays in charge of demolition, electrical, plumbing and construction, and our team builds and installs the cabinets and quartz countertop to the agreed layout.
